Launch a rocket from Earth and land it on the Moon by remote control.

๐ŸŽฎ๐ŸŒ๐Ÿ“ถ๐Ÿš€๐ŸŒ•

Given that the lightspeed delay to the moon is ~1.2 seconds, this is more difficult than it sounds...

A physics toy "obnoxious controls" game in the vein of QWOP or Getting Over It.

The rocket is extremely fragile and will explode at the slightest provocation. The landing struts are sturdier but will still cause an explosion if they impact at high velocity.

Distances and the speed of light are compressed 5000:1 to cut the journey down to a few minutes rather than days.

Controls

  • W / Up Arrow / Analog Sticks Up: Rocket main engine power
  • A / D / Left Arrow / Right Arrow / Analog Sticks Sideways: Rocket attitude thrusters (turning)
  • R / Controller face buttons: Restart

HUD Explanation

  1. Mission Time: The elapsed time since launching from Earth. Stops counting and turns green upon a successful landing.
  2. Earth / Moon Indicators: Give the direction and distance to the Earth / Moon
  3. Velocity / Gravity Vectors
    • Green: The velocity of the rocket
    • Red: The gravitational pull on the rocket
  4. Isograv: Lines of constant gravitational force. Can be used to intuit the change in gravity.
  5. Input Graph
    • Orange Line: Main engine power over the past two seconds
    • Yellow Line: Attitude thruster power over the past two seconds
    • White Bar: The point in the graph representing the current lightspeed delay to the rocket
    • Rocket Icon: A representation of the current direction and engine / thruster output of the rocket - useful if the camera is zoomed out due to high speed.
